honestly, i must have consumed about 50,000 calories on monday. it's as though my body tabulated energy-in vs. energy-out from the previous three days and then panicked.
i felt i had earned the day off, as i had gotten into luxembourg a full day ahead of schedule and my right knee was twinging a bit. and i don't think i could have picked a better city to lounge around in for a day. luxembourg city is gorgeous and, it being a holiday monday, there was a huge market. later in the evening, i drank jagermeister with K (a middle aged indian man, one of the three tenants of the house i was crashing at, thanks to couchsurfing) and watched the island, which i had never heard of. it is an enjoyable sort of pulp action/scifi flick. a kind of logan's run meets the village. over all i'd give it a 6.5/10. it could have made seven if it had avoided the old "i'm the real x, shoot him"--"no, I'M the real x, shoot HIM." cliche. maybe even 8 if the evil doctor had been a character with any depth or plausibility. but that's probably asking too much. later in the night, i may or may not have drank more jager and may or may not have sang along raucously to a spanish guitar rendition of summertime by K's french roommates and the whole thing may or may not have been recorded.
